Mele Ukulele in not only a retail ukulele store, but Maui's foremost maker of ukuleles. We offer just about any sort of entirely handmade, solid-wood ukulele you can imagine at unbeatable prices!

In addition to the Mele line of premium, professional-quality handmade ukes, we import the Hula Ukes line and certain other brands. These are mass-produced, to our specifications, but we also do $50 to $100 worth of setup work on each and every one, to ensure that they play in tune, sound great and are easy to play. Prices start well below $100.

Most makers would describe these as "custom" ukulele models. We only make a few at a time, and they have special features that make them especially desirable to a select group of our customers, usually either the collectors or the professional ukulele players.

Mele specializes in ukuleles, but we do build a few instruments in the guitar category (EGBDE tuning) like our amazing nylon-stringed Travel Guitar,as well a baritone ukuleles (tuned DGBE). The Guitarlele is a cross between the two, a baritone ukulele with widened neck and two added strings, tuned like a guitar.
